2nd Sunday Regional Fireside - Feb 12th - 7pm

Every 2nd Sunday is our monthly regional Fireside. It is held at 7pm at 1120 W Greens Lake Drive. Our speaker for Feb 12th will be Brother Alan Gudmundson and his wife Elizabeth. They will be speaking on their experiences in Nauvoo, Illinois each summer as missionaries in the Nauvoo Band. Refreshments will be served afterward while you mingle with other singles. Come be uplifted this Sunday evening!

5th Sunday Firesides Cancelled

The 5th Sunday Firesides have been cancelled until further notice. That includes today's normally scheduled fireside for January 29th.

There will be Sloppy Joes, and other assorted good things for the eating.

 

The activity has been scheduled for the

• 7:00 pm       

The activities will be specifically geared towards adults, 

But we are planning to recruit a few people to watch kids,

So come if you can, it should be a good time

Institute Class: Thursday nights

Great news! A new Institute class is being started this year specifically for singles, and it is going to be awesome.

Brother Sean Zortman, will be the teacher, and if you've met him you probably already know that he brings a lot to the table. He's a really great teacher and this should be a really cool class.
The course is called the Gospel and the Productive Life, which basically is a class about how to get the most out of our lives by applying gospel principles. This is a really cool course that was recently added to the CES curriculum.  I'm definitly looking forward to the class, so come, and tell your friends. This should be really good.
Here are some of the other details about the class.

- Start Date 12 Jan 2012

- End Date 27 Apr 2012

- No Class on 6 Apr 2012 due to Spring Break for Iron County Schools

- Thursday Nights 7 pm to 8 pm (If you can't make it some weeks, just come the next week. We want everyone who wants to be there to come as often as they want to come) 

- Location - Canyon View High School Seminary Building (By Canyon View High, and Across the street from the KB and the fiddlers 6 Movie Theater on North Main Street)

- Course:  The Gospel and Productive Life (Religion 150)

- Course Description: When we apply gospel principles in our lives, we can become more productive spiritually and temporally. The Gospel and the Productive Life course addresses common issues single adults in the Church face. Many spiritual principles have temporal application, and our temporal lives often influence our ability to grow spiritually.  The class will be taught with emphasis on applying gospel principles and truths to tackle real single adult concerns.  This class will only be open to single adults in our region.

- Bring your scriptures, pen/pencil, and something to keep notes  (Course book will be provided)

- Light Refreshments will be available after the first class

- CV Stake Presidency has requested Brother Sean Zortman be the primary instructor for this course.  They have also identified qualified alternate instructors to support as needed.

This is our first attempt at this endeavor, so we will learn as we go and may need to make some changes to best suit the needs of the single adults.

Karaoke & Game Night - Saturday Dec 17

Saturday, December 17th from 6:30pm to 9pm there will be a Karaoke and Game Night.  This event is sponsored by and located at the Cedar West Stake, 725 S 1100 W in Cedar City.  It should be a lot of fun! There will be games, a DJ, some dancing... maybe, great holiday treats, (feel free to bring something you want to get rid of... or something you really enjoy), and of course there will be some sweet Karaoke. Children are invited to attend. So tell all your single friends. We look forward to seeing you there!

Christmas Party - Dec 10

On December 10th from 6:30pm to 9:30pm, there will be a Single Adult 31+ Christmas Party, sponsored by the Cedar North Stake. This will be located at 95 N 2125 W, Cedar City, in the Relief Society room. Please bring a holiday treat or beverage & a White Elephant gift. White Elephant gifts should be a wrapped "something from home" or if purchased, should be something that costs under $2. Children are welcome. There will be live music, social games, and of course the White Elephant Exchange game. Please RSVP to Charlotte at 435-586-2418.

No 2nd Sunday Fireside or 4th Thursday Game Night this Month

The 2nd Sunday Fireside has been cancelled for December.   As an alternative, you can attend Handel's Messiah, performed by the Orchestra of Southern Utah and the Southern Utah Chorale.  This event will be held at 7:30pm on both Sunday the 11th and Monday the 12th at the Heritage Center, 105 N 100 E, Cedar City.   This event is free!  Sadly, the annual Creche Festival was cancelled for this year.

The 4th Thursday Game Night has been cancelled due to the close proximity to Christmas and also because of the Karaoke and Game night that will be held on Saturday the 17th (don't miss out!).
